Brushed Steel Shark on Weathered Board
Living on the coast of North Carolina, we swim in the ocean all the time - or rather - my kids swim and I stand on the beach and watch. I count heads - 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3. I watch for rip currents, fish jumping, random alligators, birds diving, sting rays and yes, sharks. I watch for sharks all the time. I scan the horizon for fins. I look in the tumbling waves for white underbellies. I watch for gaping mouths full of teeth and silent gliding fins. We've spent a lot of time at the beach and I am happy to report that I haven't seen one of these predators close to my kids yet. But I know they're there.
Fascinating creatures, but I'd rather see it hanging on my wall than swimming near me. This one is a beauty - handcrafted by my husband, Tim Bush. Brushed solid steel mounted on weathered wood. 12" x 22" ish.
