"Marsh Walk" oil pastels on board - framed - by Nancy Carter
I think I may have been here before - sometime in the past during a vacation a long time ago. A vacation where there was time to wander down a boardwalk by myself and stare off into the marsh. A vacation where I was alone but not lonely, where I could daydream for long stretches without my thoughts being interrupted, where the water was so still it seemed to be asleep. A calm, soothing place, rich with silence and peace, surrounded by beauty. My vacations look very different these days - full of rowdy kids, dogs and activities - full of busy plans and exercise and late dinners and fun. I still try to find my little bits of peace every once in awhile. I'll take the long way home from the beach or linger a few extra minutes at sunset or walk to the end of the boardwalk and take a few extra deep breaths before going home.
